An apparently paranoid ex-employee of discount retailer Dollar Tree is accused of extracting revenge on the company by torching one of its stores after passing out flyers accusing the chain of stalking him.
“I am being followed, threatened, watched, set-up, stalked, attempted to be committed, imprisoned and much more from state to state by Dollar Tree Stores Inc.” and various police departments, the flyer begins. “They even tried to kill me. These individuals have pulled guns on me, locked me up, and are even living in the same apartments complex as me.”
Damon Cooper, 33, allegedly walked into the McKinney, Texas, Dollar Tree in suburban Dallas, doused the store with lighter fluid, and set fire to it. When police and firefighters responded to the scene, Cooper was still in the burning store and began throwing canned goods through the windows.
Police ordered Cooper to evacuate the store and he was arrested after he complied. Firefighters extinguished the flames before they could spread to adjacent businesses.
Cooper had apparently planned out the attack ahead of time.
“I will be going to my old employer’s store that I honestly believe they built out here around the corner from me to get me upset but I didn’t respond to their continued attacks until now so look out for the information about what happened to the Dollar Tree Store in McKinney ,TX,” he posted on his Facebook page before he torched the store.
